The Asari Chair is beautiful in its simplicity, with a form that welcomes you with its gentle curves and upholstered frame. Hidden inside are innovative ergonomics. Layered, contoured foam provides the initial comfort you get from an upholstered chair with the long-term benefits you expect from task seating. PostureFit, which adjusts to the lower back’s contours, fills the void that exists between the lower back and the back of the chair—all while promoting the natural alignment of the spine. Tailored for you, a synchronous, self-adjusting tilt provides natural movement, while the seat pad minimizes pressure points and provides support. Fukasawa compared these chairs around dining or meeting tables as a gathering of friends.

Design

Naoto Fuakasawa designed this chair with a clear goal: to inspire joy and create a new form, ultimately becoming the next upholstered icon. Considering the relationship between person, environment and chair, he looked to the work around him as inspiration—beginning with its name. Japanese for "clam" (short neck clam to be precise), Asari's rounded edges and sculpted segments give an anthropomorphic character to the chair.

Natural inspiration. Infinite comfort

The sculptural elegance of this chair draws from two distinct yet harmonious sources of inspiration: the smooth, calming surfaces of river stones and the delicate, tiered form of a French macaron. These references are reflected in the chair’s soft, rounded contours and layered backrest structure, creating a visual rhythm that soothes and invites. Each color—whether deep mustard, ocean blue, or warm coral—echoes natural and culinary palettes, adding emotional warmth to modern workspaces. The upholstery is meticulously tailored to enhance the chair’s fluid silhouette, while the softly contoured cushioning provides ergonomic support without compromising aesthetic purity.
